About Davis Ranch Retreat
Davis Ranch Retreat was born from a lifelong love of the land and a desire to preserve the simple, meaningful rhythms of ranch life in Central Texas.
Monica grew up in a small town in West Texas, where her grandparents owned a modest ranch just six miles from town. Her happiest childhood memories were spent alongside Mama and Papa Davis — riding the fence line, tending animals, and learning the quiet responsibility that comes with caring for the land.
Years later, Monica and her husband felt a pull back to those roots. Wanting to raise their two boys in the country and pass along the values they were taught, they purchased a 40-acre ranch and began what would become Davis Ranch Retreat — a place grounded in family, stewardship, and genuine Texas hospitality.

Even today, Monica can’t break her habit of riding the fence line.
“You’ve gotta check to make sure none of the goats have gotten their horns tangled in the barbed wire fence, or the bulls haven’t torn down the fences altogether, looking for greener pastures.” she says with a smile.
That same hands-on spirit is shared with guests. On arrival, Monica often rides the fence line with visitors, welcoming them into the daily rhythm of ranch life. Guests are invited — never required — to help feed the animals, or simply enjoy watching the ranch come alive around them.
There’s always something happening at the ranch, yet plenty of space to slow down, breathe deeply, and truly relax. Whether you choose to participate or simply observe, Davis Ranch Retreat offers an authentic, peaceful experience — one that feels less like a place to stay and more like coming home.

Monica’s deep love for her ranch naturally led her to share it with others, and in 2010, Davis Ranch Retreat was officially established in Central Texas. What began as welcoming family, friends, and neighbors to her home and land quickly revealed how meaningful the experience was for guests. Seeing the joy it brought, Monica realized that expanding the ranch’s accommodations would allow even more people to enjoy the land she cherished.
In 2012, Monica’s sons suggested applying to be part of Treehouse Masters. She was accepted, and in 2013, production began on what would become the ranch’s most iconic feature — the Treehouse — built in an incredible 18 days. From that moment forward, Davis Ranch Retreat continued to grow, expanding its accommodations and welcoming guests from near and far. As Monica often says, “There hasn’t been a moment of doubt — or a breather — ever since.”
